The Authority of Scripture
đź“– Scripture:
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.” — 2 Timothy 3:16 (ESV)
âť“ Reflective Question:
Do you trust God’s Word as the final authority in your life, or do you sometimes treat it as just one voice among many?
In an age where opinions are loud, and truth seems like a moving target, the authority of the Scriptures is more crucial than ever. Paul’s wise words to Timothy remind us that the Bible isn’t a mere collection of religious musings, superstitions and wise sayings—it is the very breath of God, His perfect and sufficient revelation to us.
Yet, how often do we subtly place our feelings, culture, or personal preferences above God’s Word? We have fallen guilty of placing ourselves above His Word. We read a passage that challenges us, and instead of yielding, we tend to reinterpret it to fit our own desires. But the Bible isn’t given to be edited by us; it is given to shape us. It corrects, trains, and convicts — not because God delights in restricting us, but because He knows that true life and wisdom are found in His ways, not ours.
The question is not whether Scripture is relevant, but whether we are willing to submit to its authority. When we open its pages, we are not merely reading words on paper; we are encountering the voice of the living God. When we stand on His Word, we stand on unshakable ground.
🙏🏽 Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of Your Holy Word. Forgive me when I allow my own understanding to take precedence over Your truth. Help me to submit to Your Word, trusting that it is good, true, and life-giving. Shape my heart and mind by it, that I may walk in Your wisdom. In Jesus’ name;
Amen.
