The Heart of the Matter

📖 Scripture:

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” — Proverbs 4:23 (NIV)

❓Reflective Question:

What is shaping the desires of your heart today?

We spend a lot of time trying to manage our external behaviours — our words, our actions, even the way others may perceive us from the outside. But Jesus is never just concerned with surface-level change; He’s is always after the heart. Why? Because our words and actions always flow from what our heart treasures the most.

If our hearts are driven by success, we will chase achievement at any cost. If it’s consumed by approval, we will compromise our integrity to be liked. If comfort is our greatest desire, we will avoid anything that may remotely feel hard. But when Jesus Christ is at the centre of your heart, everything exponentially changes. Instead of being driven by fear or pride, we are freed to live with joy, peace, and purpose.

God doesn’t just want to ‘modify’ our behaviour — He wants to transform our hearts. I pray that you take an honest look at what is shaping your desires. Then ask God to align your heart with His.

🙏🏽 Prayer:

“Lord, I don’t just need help with my actions — I need You to change my heart. Reveal anything that has taken Your place in my desires. Shape me to love what You love, and let my life reflect Your truth.”

Amen.
