The Power of the Cross
๐ Scripture:
โFor the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.โ โ 1 Corinthians 1:18 (NIV)
โReflective Question:
How does the cross shape the way you live each day?
To the world, the idea of Godโs son being nailed to the cross is a scandal โ an offence, and might even seem foolish to those who donโt understand the importance of it. But to the redeemed, it is the encapsulation of life in its totality. At the foot of the cross stands the intersection of divine wrath and infinite mercy, which reveals our salvation. The cross was not an accident of historical punishment alone, but has become the tool which God has used to bring forth His greatest plan of redemption for humanity.
Behold its power! It has crushed the dominion of sin, silenced the accusations of the enemy, and opened the floodgates of Godโs grace. Here, justice and love have merged as one, and from that sweet embrace has flowed our redemption through Jesus Christ. No other banner do we raise, no other hope do we proclaim. The cross is our victory, our confidence, and our peace.
Why would you live in fear, child of God? Look again to the wonderful power of the cross! Have you doubted your salvation? Look again to the cross! Do you tend to waver away from your Maker in times of trial? Fix your eyes upon the cross of Calvary, and let its power ease the discomfort of your soul. The world may mock our greatest hope, but we shall never cease to glorify God in its wonder.
๐๐ฝ Prayer:
Master Jesus, I thank You for the power of the cross. Let me never stray far from its shadow, but may it ever be my eternal hope, my steadfast anchor, and my greatest song. Teach me to live in the light of Your most Holy sacrifice, through Jesus Christ Your Son, bearing my own cross with joy, knowing that in You, I have the ultimate victory over sin.
Amen.
