The Awareness of Godโs Presence
๐ Scripture:
"Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you." โ James 4:8 (ESV)
โ Reflective Question:
How can you remind yourself of Godโs presence throughout the day?
There was a time when I perceived the experience of Godโs presence as specific moments reserved for church services or in moments of deep prayer. But I have learned that God is just as present in the ordinary as He is in the sacred times. The challenge is not whether He is with us, but whether we are aware of Him.
Itโs therefore important to involve the Holy Spirit and ask Him to help you build a habit of turning your thoughts to God in the simplest of tasks โ whether itโs washing dishes, walking down the street, or having a conversation with a stranger. A silent "Thank You, Lord," or a whispered "I know You are with me" transforms any moment into communion with Him. The beauty of this practice is that it does not require effort, only attention. And the more we turn to Him, the more we begin to notice that He is always near to us.
Some days, our heart is easily drawn to Him; other days, distractions pull us away. But even in those moments, remind yourself that God does not withdraw Himself from us โ He is patient, waiting for us to return our thoughts to Him. The more we practice this, the more natural it becomes, until our heart rests in Him without resistance.
๐๐ฝ Prayer:
"Father, teach me to turn my thoughts to You throughout my day. Let my heart find rest in Your presence, even in the midst of my work life or daily routine. May I learn to walk with You in every moment, knowing that You are always near to us.โ
Amen.
