Rooted in Faith: living a God-centred life
Let's face it, we live in a world that is constantly in motion. From the moment we wake up, to the time we lay out head to rest. For most of us, life is a blur from Monday to Friday due to the shifting gears of our daily routines, and when it comes to Saturday and Sunday they wonder why the week had just "flown by" and they live life as if they are "going through the motions".
But when we live life this way, the stresses and challenges that we may be facing in life our lives may gain a stronghold on us not just in a mental sense, but also on a spiritual level. Going through the motions hinders our progress as we will end up lacking a clear purpose for our daily routines. Then, our lives end up revolving around work, daily obligations, and various other distractions that consume our time.
In spite of everything, we tend to neglect the significance of cultivating an authentic relationship with God. Our preoccupation with the mundane aspects of life often leads us to unintentionally exclude Him from our daily routines. It's a common mistake we all make, where we can go for days or even weeks without praying or communicating with our heavenly Father. Unfortunately, this lapse can have a negative impact on our mental well-being, our ability to manage emotions, and how we handle daily obstacles and difficulties.
Including God in our daily lives is crucial for our overall well-being; especially as Christians. By setting aside some time to be in His presence, we can freely release our worries and burdens to God who is able to alleviate the pressures of daily life. When we establish a routine of giving more time to developing our relationship with God, we can experience a transformation which will develop a worldview which is in line with how God sees His creation, and what part we play in it.
Moreover, regularly connecting with God can help us find purpose and meaning in life. It can give us the strength and wisdom to navigate challenges and obstacles with greater ease and resilience. We must allow ourselves to find comfort and solace in His love and guidance, especially during times of hardship and uncertainty.
Making time for God doesn't necessarily require an elaborate ritual or a significant chunk of our day. It can be as simple as setting aside a few minutes every morning or evening to pray, meditate or read the word of God. We can also connect with God through acts of kindness, compassion, and service to others, as these are expressions of His love and grace.
Overall, incorporating God into our daily routine brings many benefits to our physical, emotional, and spiritual health. It helps us to lead a more purposeful and fulfilling life in Christ, and live our lives which actively seeks to develop a deeper connection with our Creator.
The omnipotence and grace of our Creator cannot be underestimated. As the liberator of souls, conqueror of death, and supreme power in all of existence, why should we doubt God's ability to lift our burdens and carry us through our trials?
By prioritizing our connection with God in our daily lives, we equip ourselves for the challenges that lay ahead. This devotion to please God ends up instilling a sense of positivity and hope within us that is unparalleled by any other source of inspiration. The power of God's word is a confidence booster that elevates our spirits beyond the reach of any motivational speaker or inspirational quote.
It is imperative that we remember to include the divine in our daily routines. Prayer, reading the sacred texts, and spending time with fellow believers of the faith will strengthen our bond with the Lord and deepen our understanding of His wisdom and love. The act of making God the centre of our lives is not only a sign of reverence and devotion but also a necessary step in achieving personal fulfilment and spiritual fulfilment in God.
Making God part of your daily routine is not just beneficial, but also necessary for spiritual growth. It shapes us and moulds us into the people that God wants us to be. The moment we make a conscious effort to make God part of our everyday life; the Holy Spirit does a work in us every day that brings us closer to God, reveals his purpose for us in this world, and guides us on the right path of life. When we look at how the psalmist David describes the essence of being in God's presence, it's quite profound:
You have searched me, Lord , and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord , know it completely. You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.
Psalm 139:1-6 NIV
So let us all make a conscious effort to make God the centre of our lives, by making sure we spend time with Him day after day. Once he becomes the main reason for our motivation, he becomes the centre of our routine - as everything we will do is now a potential action we could use to worship God.
