Book Review: "Search the Scriptures"

So I've recently gone back to basics regarding bible study. Previously I was more of a devotional girl; I would read whatever devotional it was for that day and the associated verse, and I would then read and build on that verse. But I low-key also had a thing with devotionals where although they gave me structure; a lot of the time I didn't really enjoy it as my method for bible study.

Therefore I decided I would go back to basics; a good ol' bible reading plan. Alongside that, I use my journalling bible, ESV study bible and now, this new study guide - Search the Scriptures.

I'm committed to not making this a complicated process; because the more complicated it is; I have experienced the less likely you are to be consistent. But this study guide came as a recommendation and so far; I cannot say I'm disappointed! Naturally, I'm a very reflective person so the layout of this study guide was right up my street.

It is a very thorough study guide which gives an appropriate amount of prompts for the verses to help you reflect and go deeper into the text. I think this is such a beneficial aid to have alongside your bible and a worthy investment. I think I might use this more than my commentaries; commentaries can be really helpful in gaining a scholarly perspective on the biblical text. However, I'm starting to think of reducing my reliance on it to help me understand scripture.

a look into how the study guide gives the reader focused questions to help contemplate scripture further.

I highly recommend this study guide if you feel that you need that support in studying scripture. You can find Search the Scriptures on Amazon.

Let me know in the comments what you use during your bible study time! Do you like using study guides/commentaries/devotionals?
